On 2 October in Chicago, Momento Pro was awarded the ultimate international print accolade – the Premier Print Awards James H. Mayes Jr. Memorial ‘Best of Show’ – for Middlehurst | Middle Earth, a fine art book we produced for Australian landscape photographer Peter Eastway.
Edited and republished with permission from Doug Spowart and Victoria Cooper
In April 2019, Australian photo book creators, academics and advocates, Dr Doug Spowart and Dr Victoria Cooper, completed a two year project to curate a selection of 52 significant Australian and New Zealand photo books for acquisition by the Tate, UK. The project was a labour of love and marks a significant milestone in antipodean photo book history.
Momento Pro established the Australia and New Zealand Photobook of the Year Award, and its earlier incarnations, to help antipodean photo artists produce publications and progress their photographic career. We’re proud to have now helped bring 10 new photo book titles to life including, A Sundance in Sandringham by Solomon Mortimer. This title was published by Mortimer and PhotoForum in March 2019, and the story behind-the-book is outlined below.
There should be no surprise that we at Momento Pro believe photographers can elevate their work in print. This philosophy inspired us to introduce a softcover book range that includes perfect bound books and saddle-stitched booklets. They are more affordable and lightweight format making them ideal for self publishing, exhibition catalogues, client guides, and leave-behind portfolios.
A group of talented Australian female photo artists, Lumina Collective, produced a series of booklets they could send to agencies, picture editors, galleries and fans, and below they share the story of their collaboration, and creation of various publications.
