A gift to the nation: Archival books honouring WW2 veterans

On 7 November 2018, Momento Pro and the Australian Institute of Professional Photographers proudly donated an archival inkjet printed book to the National Library of Australia, to commemorate the ‘Reflections Project – Honouring our WWII Veterans.’

Our presentation of the AIPP Reflections books to the National Library of Australia last Wednesday, will go down in Momento’s history as one of our most memorable experiences. Geoff, James and Libby were intensely proud to handover two large leather-bound archival books in the presence of 14 veterans and their families, and seeing the look of joy and gratitude on their face as they found their portrait among the pages, was priceless.

On June 10 we hit a record of 10 staff being with us for 10 years – alongside our Managing Director, Geoff Hunt. That’s pretty special and we’re very lucky to have such loyal human beings working for us. We thought you might like to know a little about what they do and what makes them tick.

Meet our bookbinder Marty: 20 years strong

Bookbinding became a popular arts practice in the mid 15th century when the printing press was invented, and Germany was home to the best craftsmen. Our binder Marty, was trained by his German father-in-law and has now been binding for 20 years.

Next month Martin Penny has been binding books for 20 years, which means about half a million books have passed through his hands! We’re proud to say that for ten of those years he’s been running our bindery at Momento Pro, and he still treats every book like it’s the most important book on the planet. Here’s Marty’s story …
